With the RV safely back at Neb's house and launch scheduled for the next day, it was time to enjoy some time in the Southern California sun, Dude.
"Dude" is a great word. As a graduate student at Stanford for many, many years, I endeavored to master its subtle complexities. Without multimedia capability, I can't convey the power of the word on this blog, but a careful review of Sean Penn's career-finest role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) or Keanu Reeve's legendary performance in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) will serve as a primer to the finer points of its varied usage.
As we floated in the community pool and basked in the sunlight of a endlessly cloudless blue sky, I couldn't help but reflect to Neb that a perfect day like this one could be experienced only once or twice a year in Williamstown. I knew the answer to my question, "Is the weather here like this very often?" before I asked it, but I just couldn't help myself.
